A manager who actively backs subordinates' childcare and family life — approving leave, cutting overtime, adjusting workloads — while still delivering results. A coined term promoted in workplace-reform campaigns since the mid-2010s.

Coined from 育(いく) (of 育児(いくじ), childcare) + English "boss", on the model of イクメン (a father actively involved in childcare). Companies and local governments run イクボス宣言(せんげん) campaigns in which managers publicly commit to the role.
