noun
spectacle; spectacular show
entertainmentmedia
1. spectacle; grand spectacular show
A display on a lavish scale — a big-budget film, a stage production, or a scene in real life that impresses by sheer size and visual force. In Japanese it is mostly used of entertainment and carries no negative connotation.
まさにスペクタクルだ。
It really is a spectacle.
I like spectacle films and watch them often.
It was a rare spectacle, with huge numbers of fireworks filling the whole night sky.

From English "spectacle," but narrower: Japanese スペクタクル means a grand, impressive display, and never "a pair of glasses" or "an embarrassing scene."
