Doraemon, manga and anime character
A robot cat from the 22nd century who helps the boy Nobita with gadgets from his four-dimensional pocket. The manga by 藤子・F・不二雄 began in 1969, and the anime is a fixture of Japanese childhood.

Cultural note
In 2008 Japan's foreign ministry named Doraemon its first anime culture ambassador.
