A member of the warrior class in feudal Japan. Also used to describe someone with warrior-like qualities.
武士(ぶし)は刀(かたな)を持(も)っていた。
Samurai carried swords.

Bushido is the spirit of the samurai.

Usage: Historical term for the warrior class. 侍(さむらい) is a synonym but 武士(ぶし) is more formal.
