A word or phrase that someone habitually uses, often without realizing it.
「まあ」が彼女の口癖だ。
"Well..." is her favorite phrase.
父の口癖は「努力あるのみ」だ。
My father's catchphrase is "Only through effort."
「えーと」が口癖になっている。
"Um" has become my verbal habit.
WORD FORMATION:
口 (mouth) + 癖 (habit) → mouth habit = verbal habit
