Attaches to a noun to compare an action or state to it. The adverbial counterpart of のような, which modifies nouns instead of verbs and adjectives.
鳥(とり)のように飛(と)びたい。
I want to fly like a bird.

Typhoons come almost every year.
先生(せんせい)がおっしゃったように、準備(じゅんび)が何(なに)より大切(たいせつ)だと分(わ)かった。

Usage

After a noun, use のように (雪(ゆき)のように白(しろ)い). After a verb or i-adjective, drop の and use ように directly (言(い)ったように). With na-adjectives the linker is な (静(しず)かなように).
