〜所(しょ)

〜所(しょ) is a productive suffix that creates nouns meaning "place where X is done" or "X facility." It attaches to Sino-Japanese verb stems and nouns.

• 観測所(かんそくしょ): observation station
• 発電所(はつでんしょ): power plant

Reading variation

The reading changes to じょ in some compounds:
