1.
clear sky, fine weather
Weather with a cloudless or mostly cloudless sky. A somewhat formal term used in weather reports, written descriptions, and set phrases.
明日は晴天の予報だ。
The forecast for tomorrow is clear skies.
晴天に恵まれて、運動会は予定どおり行われた。
Blessed with fine weather, the sports day was held as planned.
三日間続いた晴天のおかげで、洗濯物がよく乾いた。

USAGE:
More formal and literary than 晴れ (clear weather, everyday). Common in weather forecasts, written descriptions, and the well-known proverb 青天の霹靂 (a bolt from the blue — note: this uses the kanji 青, not 晴). 晴天 is a noun and does not inflect.
COMMON COLLOCATIONS:
- 晴天に恵まれる: to be blessed with fine weather
- 晴天が続く: fine weather continues
- 晴天の日: a clear day
SIMILAR WORDS:
- 晴れ: clear weather (everyday, also used in forecasts)
- 快晴: perfectly clear sky (no clouds at all)
- 好天: good weather (formal)
