どおり

どおり is a suffix meaning "as" or "in accordance with." It attaches directly to a noun.

Common patterns

• 希望(きぼう)どおり: as hoped/wished
• 予定(よてい)どおり: as scheduled/planned
• 期待(きたい)どおり: as expected
• 計画(けいかく)どおり: according to plan
• Followed by に for adverbial use: 予定(よてい)どおりに進(すす)む
• Followed by の before a noun: 希望(きぼう)どおりの結果(けっか)

Watch out

The voiced どおり belongs right after a noun. After a verb, after この/その/あの, and after の, the standard form is とおり: 言(い)ったとおり (as I said), 思(おも)ったとおり (as I thought), そのとおり (exactly, that's right), このとおり (like this), 説明(せつめい)のとおり (as explained). 思(おも)ったどおり is also seen in casual writing.
