Attached directly to a noun, the suffix is read どおり (rendaku): 予定(よてい)通(どお)り (as scheduled), 説明(せつめい)通(どお)り (as explained), 時間(じかん)通(どお)り (on time).
After a verb in plain form, or after この / その, it stays とおり: 言(い)った通(とお)り, その通(とお)り.
