For something wet to become dry. Intransitive verb used for laundry, surfaces, etc.
(ふく)(かわ)きました。

2. to be thirsty
When used with (のど) (throat), means to be thirsty: (のど)(かわ)いた.

Literally 'my throat is dry'

I get thirsty when I exercise.
Eating spicy food makes me thirsty.

TRANSITIVITY: 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive). Pair: (かわ)かす (transitive, to dry something). Pattern: Xが(かわ)く.

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. (かわ)いている = 'is dry' or 'has dried.'

COMMON PATTERNS:
