2. to want (someone) to do
In the pattern 「~てほしい」, expresses wanting someone else to do something.
I want you to help me.
~てほしい pattern
I want you to come quickly.
I want you to be quiet.
I wanted you to try harder.
I want my children to find what they love and live happily.

()しい conjugates as an i-adjective: ()しくない (negative), ()しくて (te-form), ()しかった (past). Important: Use ()しい for wanting things (nouns), but use ~たい for wanting to do actions (verbs). The pattern ~て()しい means you want someone else to do something.
