noun
your company (honorific, spoken)
1. your company; your organization (honorific, spoken)
An honorific term used when speaking about the listener's company. Used in spoken conversation, especially in job interviews and business meetings.
I am interested in your company's business.
I applied because I would like to work at your company.
I sympathize with your company's corporate philosophy and would very much like to contribute.

USAGE:
御社(おんしゃ) is used in SPOKEN contexts (interviews, meetings, phone calls). For WRITTEN contexts (cover letters, emails, formal documents), use 貴社(きしゃ) instead. This distinction is important and frequently tested in Japanese business etiquette.

NOTE: Both words are keigo (honorific language) and should only be used to refer to someone else's company, never your own. To refer to your own company humbly, use 弊社(へいしゃ) (our company, humble).

COMMON COLLOCATIONS:

  • 御社(おんしゃ)(はたら)く (to work at your company)
  • 御社(おんしゃ)応募(おうぼ)する (to apply to your company)

SIMILAR WORDS:

  • 貴社(きしゃ): your company (written honorific) — used in letters and documents
  • 弊社(へいしゃ): our company (humble) — used when referring to one's own company
