To take the lead in planning and running an event, conference, competition, or other organized activity. The 主催者 (host/organizer) bears primary responsibility for the event.

USAGE:
The subject (organizer) is marked with が, and the event being hosted is marked with を. Often used in the pattern 〜が主催する〜 as a relative clause modifying the event.
