A traditional Niigata sweet: a sticky-rice dumpling kneaded with (よもぎ) (mugwort), filled with sweet bean paste, wrapped in (ささ) (bamboo grass) leaves and steamed. The leaves give a fresh fragrance and serve as a natural preservative.
