のよ
のよ
expression, particle
you see; the thing is (feminine explanatory)
1.
you see; the thing is; that's why (feminine explanatory emphasis)
A sentence-final combination of the explanatory の and the emphatic よ, used in feminine speech. It presents the statement as an explanation or background the listener did not know, rather than as bare new information.
Attaches to the plain form of verbs and i-adjectives. After a noun or na-adjective, だ becomes な: 学生なのよ, 静かなのよ.
Register
Feminine speech. The neutral equivalent is んだよ, and the polite equivalent is んですよ. のよ is gentler than わよ: わよ pushes the assertion at the listener, while のよ frames it as background information being shared.
