sports
1. single-leg jump (jump rope)
A jump-rope technique in which the jumper hops on one leg only, instead of the usual two-footed hop, either staying on the same foot or alternating feet. Often introduced as a step toward more advanced jump-rope tricks.
片足(かたあし)跳(と)びをする。
I do a single-leg jump.
片足(かたあし)跳(と)びは両足(りょうあし)跳(と)びより疲(つか)れる。
The single-leg jump is more tiring than the two-footed jump.
I did ten single-leg jumps on each foot, alternating between my right foot and my left foot.

片足(かたあし)跳(と)び replaces the usual two-footed hop of 前(まえ)跳(と)び with hopping on one leg only. It builds balance and leg strength and is often practiced as a step up before moving on to harder tricks.
