The branch of medicine dealing with the female reproductive organs, and the hospital department or clinic that provides it. Often combined with obstetrics as 産婦人科(さんふじんか).

Usage

Like other department names (内科(ないか), 眼科(がんか)), 婦人科(ふじんか) names both the field and the place: 婦人科(ふじんか)に行(い)く means going to see a gynecologist.
