生徒会(せいとかい)

生徒会(せいとかい) is the student government body at Japanese 中学校(ちゅうがっこう) (middle schools) and 高校(こうこう) (high schools). It organizes school events, manages club activities, and represents student interests.

COMMON POSITIONS:

• 生徒会長(せいとかいちょう): student council president
• 副会長(ふくかいちょう): vice president
• 書記(しょき): secretary
• 会計(かいけい): treasurer

ACTIVITIES:

• 文化祭(ぶんかさい)の運営(うんえい): organizing the culture festival
• 体育祭(たいいくさい)の企画(きかく): planning the sports festival
• 生徒会(せいとかい)選挙(せんきょ): student council elections

SCHOOL LEVEL:
At universities, the equivalent is called 学生会(がくせいかい) or 自治会(じちかい). At elementary schools, 児童会(じどうかい) is used.
