Usage

主題歌(しゅだいか) specifically refers to the main theme song of a production. For anime, the opening theme is called OP (オープニングテーマ) and the ending theme is called ED (エンディングテーマ). 主題歌(しゅだいか) can refer to either but most commonly means the primary song associated with the work.
