1. second half, latter half
The latter portion of a period of time, event, game, or work. The opposite of 前半 (first half).
試合(しあい)の後半(こうはん)が始(はじ)まった。
The second half of the game has begun.
今年(ことし)の後半(こうはん)に引(ひ)っ越(こ)す予定(よてい)です。
I plan to move in the second half of this year.
映画(えいが)は後半(こうはん)になるにつれて展開(てんかい)が加速(かそく)していく。
As the movie enters its latter half, the plot picks up speed.

Usage

Frequently used with time periods (年(ねん)の後半(こうはん), 月(つき)の後半(こうはん)), games and matches (試合(しあい)の後半(こうはん)), and creative works (映画(えいが)の後半(こうはん), 小説(しょうせつ)の後半(こうはん)). Also used with decades: 1990年代(ねんだい)後半(こうはん) (the late 1990s).
