Being outdoors without a roof or covering. Often used as a modifier to describe outdoor baths, mining operations, or other activities done under the open sky.
Most commonly encountered in the compound 露天風呂 (open-air bath), a major attraction at Japanese hot springs (温泉) and inns (旅館).
Do not confuse with the homophone 露店 (street stall/vendor), which uses a different kanji for the second character (店 = shop vs 天 = sky/heaven).
