three days ago; the day before the day before yesterday
Refers to the day that is three days prior to today. Less commonly used than おととい (day before yesterday), but understood in everyday speech.
一昨昨日から熱がある。
I've had a fever since three days ago.
一昨昨日届いた荷物をまだ開けていない。
I still haven't opened the package that arrived three days ago.
一昨昨日の夜に友人と会ったばかりなのに、もう懐かしい。
Even though I just met my friend three nights ago, I already miss them.
USAGE:
Part of the Japanese system of relative day names: おととい (2 days ago) → 一昨昨日 (3 days ago). Less formal and less commonly used than simply saying 三日前. Mostly used in casual conversation.
