A formal particle that is the classical/literary equivalent of で. It was the standard form in classical Japanese and survives in modern formal contexts. It can indicate location (where something happens) and means/method (how something is done).
USAGE:
- Replaces で in formal written contexts: announcements, business correspondence, official notices
- Very common in event announcements: ～にて開催 (held at ~)
