number
ten thousand; 10,000
1. ten thousand; 10,000
The number 10,000. (まん) is a base counting unit in Japanese, so larger numbers like 一億(いちおく) (100,000,000) are formed as multiples of まん rather than of millions.
I used a 10,000-yen bill.
Ten thousand people gathered at that concert.
I'm aiming to walk 10,000 steps every day.

Note that the (いち) is required: just "(まん)" alone is not used as a number on its own (unlike English "thousand," which can stand alone as a quantity).

COMMON COLLOCATIONS:

10,000-yen bill
10,000 people
10,000 steps

NUMBER REFERENCE:

NOTE:
Larger numbers in Japanese are grouped by ten-thousands rather than thousands, so reading large figures often requires re-parsing.
