An expression of welcome to a visitor or guest, frequently followed by a destination with へ: ようこそ〜へ ('welcome to ~').

COMMON COLLOCATIONS:

  • ようこそ日本(にほん)へ: welcome to Japan
  • ようこそお()しくださいました: welcome, thank you for coming (polite)
  • ようこそいらっしゃいました: welcome (polite)

NUANCE:
Warmer and more personal than the routine shop greeting いらっしゃいませ, which is called out to any customer entering a store.
