The standard yakitori skewer on which chunks of chicken thigh alternate with sections of 長ねぎ. Usually the first thing ordered at a yakitori shop and the benchmark by which the shop is judged.
Written in kana on almost every menu. The name comes from ねぎ (leek) plus ま, and originally referred to an Edo-period dish of leek and tuna (鮪); the chicken skewer took over the name later.

Usage
Ordering yakitori means choosing タレ (sauce) or 塩 (salt) for each item, so ねぎまを塩で is a complete order on its own.
