Cultural note

コンビニ are an essential part of daily life in Japan, with about 55,000 stores nationwide. The major chains are セブンイレブン (7-Eleven), ローソン (Lawson) and ファミリーマート (FamilyMart).
Besides food and daily goods, most stores offer services:
