The polite form of ある (to be, to exist), used in business, customer service, and formal speech. Not used in casual conversation.

Keigo
丁寧語 (polite language). In ありがとうございます and おはようございます an adjective is followed by ございます, and its く form changes to a う sound before it (ありがたく → ありがとう, はやく → はよう). This is why the forms end in う.
