Solidly established and not easily shaken or changed. Used to describe beliefs, positions, determination, or status that are rock-solid.
確固(かっこ)たる信念(しんねん)を持(も)つ。
To hold a firm belief.
彼(かれ)は確固(かっこ)とした意志(いし)で困難(こんなん)に立(た)ち向(む)かった。
He faced the difficulties with unwavering determination.
確固(かっこ)たる地位(ちい)を築(きず)くまでに長(なが)い年月(ねんげつ)がかかった。
It took many years to build a firmly established position.

USAGE:
Almost always used in the forms 確固(かっこ)たる (before nouns) or 確固(かっこ)として (adverbially). This is a たる-adjective and does not take な. Very formal and literary in tone.
