風呂(ふろ)

Often said as お風呂(ふろ), especially by women and when talking to children; plain 風呂(ふろ) is common in men's casual speech and in compounds such as 風呂場(ふろば) (bathroom) and 風呂上(ふろあ)がり (just after a bath).

Cultural note

In Japanese homes the family shares the same bathwater, so everyone washes and rinses outside the tub before soaking. 銭湯(せんとう) (public bathhouse) and 温泉(おんせん) (hot spring) follow the same etiquette.
