上書き has two meanings: overwriting data (computing) and the address on an envelope (traditional). The computing sense is far more common today.
COMPUTING USAGE:
- 上書き保存: Save (overwrite existing file) — equivalent to Ctrl+S
- 名前をつけて保存: Save As — saves as a new file
- 上書き禁止: write-protected, overwrite not allowed
