An expression indicating that the outcome or conclusion remains the same regardless of which option is chosen or what happens. Used to dismiss the importance of a particular choice or variable.

Contracted from どちらにしろ, which itself comes from どちらにしても (whichever one does). The しろ is the imperative form of する used in a concessive sense ('even if you do/choose').
