In sports such as soccer and rugby, the state of a player being in a legal position on the field, that is, not offside. It is the opposite of offside.
選手(せんしゅ)はオンサイドだった。
The player was onside.
ぎりぎりオンサイドのパスが(とお)った。
A pass that was just barely onside got through.
主審(しゅしん)は、ゴールの瞬間(しゅんかん)選手(せんしゅ)がオンサイドだったと判断(はんだん)した。
