An indefinite small number of distinct categories, typically two to nine. Combines 数 (several) with 種類 (kind, type). Used adverbially with の to modify a noun.
数種類のお茶を試した。
I tried several kinds of tea.

The prefix 数 attaches to counters to mean "several" — vague but small (typically 2–9). Almost always used attributively as 数種類の + noun.
