Used before a number of years to express how long ago a building was built. Almost exclusively seen in real estate listings: 築10年 = "built 10 years ago."
Derived from the verb 築く (to build, to construct), but read ちく in this prefix usage. Appears in real estate listings and casual descriptions of a building's age. The fixed pattern is 築 + number + 年.
Common patterns
- 築〜年: built ~ years ago
- 築浅: recently built (literally "newly built")
- 築古: old building (less common but used in listings)
- 築年数: years since construction (the count itself)
