(ちく)

ちく
prefix
(building) age; years since construction
building
1. (building) age; years since construction
Used before a number of years to express how long ago a building was built. Almost exclusively seen in real estate listings: (ちく)10(ねん) = "built 10 years ago."
このアパート(ちく)10(ねん)だ。
This apartment is 10 years old.
I'm looking for a recently-built property.
We renovated a 50-year-old traditional house and now live in it.

Derived from the verb (きず) (to build, to construct), but read ちく in this prefix usage. Appears in real estate listings and casual descriptions of a building's age. The fixed pattern is (ちく) + number + (ねん).
