A casual sentence-ending expression that seeks the listener's agreement or points out something the speaker thinks is obvious. A contraction of ではないか. Often also expresses mild surprise or a sudden realization.

A casual tag-question ending contracted from ではないか. It attaches to plain forms and invites agreement ("..., right?") or gently insists on something the speaker sees as obvious. With rising or exclamatory intonation it can also mark a sudden discovery ("Why, you can do it!").
