thank you for all your help (said when a stay or relationship ends)
Said when leaving a place or ending a period in which one received help or care: leaving a job, a host family, a hospital, a school, or a business relationship; literally 'I have been in your care.' It is the past-tense partner of お世話になっております.
The formula for a farewell after help received. The three tenses of the phrase mark the stages of a relationship:
Common patterns
- お世話になります: at the start (I will be in your care)
- お世話になっております: while it continues (thank you for your continued support)
- お世話になりました: at the end (thank you for everything)
- 大変お世話になりました: thank you very much for everything
Usage
Often the first line of a farewell speech or a thank-you letter, followed by what one is grateful for. The reply is こちらこそ or お元気で.
