辞典 vs 辞書: Both mean dictionary, but 辞典 often refers to more comprehensive or specialized dictionaries.
TYPES OF DICTIONARIES:
- 国語辞典: Japanese-Japanese dictionary
- 和英辞典: Japanese-English dictionary
- 英和辞典: English-Japanese dictionary
- 漢和辞典: kanji dictionary
- 百科事典: encyclopedia (different kanji!)
Note: 事典 (encyclopedia) uses different kanji but same reading.
