encore
An additional performance given at the end of a concert or show in response to audience demand. Also refers to the audience's call for such a performance.
アンコール is borrowed from French "encore" (again). It refers to both the audience's call for an additional performance and the extra performance itself.

CONCERT CULTURE:
At Japanese コンサート, encores are typically expected and planned in advance by the performers. After the main set ends, the 観客 claps rhythmically or chants the artist's name until the performers return to the stage. Multiple encores (ダブルアンコール, トリプルアンコール) occur at major concerts.
NOTE:
Unlike in English where "encore" is the audience's shout, in Japanese アンコール primarily refers to the additional performance itself.
