Members or contents of a group are gradually replaced by new ones over time.
メンバーが入れ替わった。
The members were replaced.
客が次々と入れ替わる人気店だ。
It's a popular restaurant where customers constantly turn over.
季節が入れ替わるたびに新しいメニューが出る。
New menu items come out every time the seasons change.
An intransitive verb. The transitive counterpart is 入れ替える (to replace, to swap). The compound 入れ替わり立ち替わり means one after another, in constant succession.
COMMON PATTERNS:
