1. to get off, to alight
To exit a vehicle. Used for trains, buses, cars, etc.
バス()りる。
To get off the bus.
(つぎ)(えき)()ります。
I'll get off at the next station.
May I get off here?
After you get off the train, please turn right.
If you ride to the last stop and get off there, there's a big park in front of the station.
2. to go down, to descend
To move from a higher position to a lower one.
階段(かいだん)()りる。
To go down the stairs.
(やま)()りました。
I came down from the mountain.
When you go down the hill, you can see the ocean.
My leg hurts, so it's hard to go down the stairs.
The elevator was broken, so I had to go down the stairs from the 10th floor.

TRANSITIVITY: 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive). Pair: ()ろす (transitive, to let someone off/unload). Pattern: Xを/から()りる.

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. ()りている = 'has gotten off' or 'is off (the vehicle).'

COMMON PATTERNS:
