次(つぎ)の日曜日(にちようび) is the first Sunday from now, even if it falls this week; to mean Sunday of next week, say 来週(らいしゅう)の日曜日(にちようび). For "the next day" in a past story use 次(つぎ)の日(ひ) or 翌日(よくじつ), not 明日(あした).
