1. to turn (at a corner)
Used when giving or following directions to turn at a corner or intersection. Takes the particle を or で to mark the location of the turn.
(みぎ)()がる。
Turn right.
Please turn left at the next corner.
If you turn at that corner, there's a station.
Go straight and turn right at the second corner.
Walk down this road and turn left before the bridge, and you'll see a big park.
2. to bend, to curve
Describes something that bends or is curved, such as a road or an object.
(みち)()がっている。
The road curves.
この(ぼう)()がっています。
This stick is bent.
背中(せなか)()がっています。
Your back is bent.
This road curves sharply up ahead.
This river curves in the middle of town, and there are three bridges over it.

TRANSITIVITY: 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive). Pair: ()げる (transitive). Pattern: Xが()がる (X turns/bends).

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. ()がっている = 'is bent/curved' (current state).
