NATIVE COUNTING SYSTEM (1-10):

  • (ひと)つ, (ふた)つ, (みっ)つ, (よっ)つ, (いつ)
  • (むっ)つ, (なな)つ, (やっ)つ, (ここの)つ, (とお)

WHEN TO USE:

Native numbers ((ひと)つ, (ふた)つ, etc.) are used when:

  • No specific counter applies
  • Counting abstract things or general items
  • Casual, everyday counting
