To be a member of or fall under a particular group, organization, or category.
Usage
属する is formal and takes に for the group or category. For a club or circle in everyday speech, ～に入っている is more natural; 属する suits classifications (species, territory, categories) and written prose.

- 所属する: belong to an organization as a member (a company, a team, an agency); the usual word on forms and in introductions (営業部に所属しています). 属する is wider and also covers abstract classes.
