A wooden stick used with a mortar (すり鉢) to grind sesame seeds, miso, and other ingredients. A traditional Japanese kitchen utensil, typically made from the wood of the Japanese pepper tree (山椒).

USAGE:
すりこぎ is always used together with すり(ばち) (mortar). The pair is a staple of traditional Japanese cooking, particularly for grinding sesame seeds, making sesame dressing, or preparing 白和(しらあ)え (tofu salad).
