Traditionally, a 鏡台(きょうだい) was an essential item in a bride's 嫁入(よめい)道具(どうぐ) (trousseau). Japanese-style 鏡台(きょうだい) are low, designed to be used while sitting on the floor ((すわ)鏡台(きょうだい)). Western-style standing versions are also called 鏡台(きょうだい) or ドレッサー.
