In Japanese supermarkets, the standard green ピーマン is the most common and cheapest variety, while (あか)ピーマン and ()ピーマン (yellow bell pepper) are often sold at a premium. Note that パプリカ (paprika) refers to the larger, thicker-walled colored bell peppers, while (あか)ピーマン can refer to either a regular-sized red pepper or a paprika.
