A rice cooker mode that shortens the cycle by skipping most of the soaking time. The rice is ready in roughly half the usual time, at some cost to texture.
早炊(はやだ)きで炊(た)く。
I cook it on the quick setting.
時間(じかん)がないので早炊(はやだ)きモードにした。
I was short of time, so I set it to quick-cook mode.
早炊(はやだ)きは二十分(にじゅっぷん)ほどで炊(た)き上(あ)がるが、普通(ふつう)に炊(た)いたほうがおいしい。
Quick-cook is done in about twenty minutes, but rice tastes better cooked normally.

早(はや)い (fast) + 炊(た)く (to cook rice), with rendaku making たき into だき. It appears as a button label on almost every Japanese rice cooker.
